The lively morning Phousi Market is an authentic Laotian market where the locals go for just about anything they need in the kitchen & more. It has such diverse offerings as dried buffalo skin, local tea, dried spices & jewelry thrown in with all kinds of meat, exotic fruits, vegetables as well as local handicrafts.
It's best visited with an English speaking tour guide who knows their way around it & can speak the language of the locals. Fresh frogs, river crabs & slippery catfish are sold here as well by ladies who are always happy to smile for the camera.
After the hustle & bustle of the morning market, go for a quick visit to a nearby Hmong village at Ban Ouay where you'll be shown the weaving techniques of its hill tribe people.
Cap everything off with a refreshing swim in the crystal clear waters of Kuangsi Waterfall then head back to Luang Prabang for lunch.
